Handmade flesh plug / earlets from genuine fossile whale bone

The spongy whale bone (trabecular bone tissue - is an open cell porous network also called cancellous or spongy bone, which is composed of a network of rod-and plate-like bone structures) was filled with colored resin. In this case the resin in Model A appears in a white and in Model B in a brownish-grey tone. The actual substance of the bone is shown as a frail network in black. When treated by the craftsman a unique and unusual high contrast pattern becomes visible.

Jewelry made from organic materials (e.g. wood, horn and bone) provide great comfort due to their light weight. As opposed to piercing jewelry from artificial materials or metals the development of odors while wearing them is greatly reduced. This article is available in different sizes and as custom-made oversize product. When used properly the jewelry is harmless but cannot be sterilized.

Wooden pieces which are supposed to be inserted into the body are best treated before first use and regularly later on with Jojoba or Linseed Oil. These oils harden when exposed to oxygen and protect the wood. This can darken the material a bit. We also recommend to additionally seal the wood with bees wax. Depending on how often you wear your jewelry this should be repeated regularly.

"Saddle Plugs" are a bit more narrow in the middle. No rubber rings are necessary for fixation and the Plug or Tunnel has a nice fit in the ear lobe.
