Satiné rubane, Bloodwood (Brosimum paraense) comes from the Amazon countries Guyana, Venezuela and Surinam. There it is also called Muirapiranga (blood of Piranhas). This very hard wood has a soft structure and it is appreciated because of its very beautiful bright intensely red color with silky shine. This is why it is also referred to as "red satinwood" in the French-speaking world. In addition, the color does not fade in this wood, but becomes more intense in old age.
